The last day of the conference highlighted the symposium on “Climate Change, Sustainable Development, and The Green Economy” which involved several professionals in the mentioned fields such as Prof. Benden Mackey and Dr. Connie Cai Ru Gan from Griffith University, Dr. Rahmat Yuliawan from Universitas Airlangga, Prof. Kathy Pain from Henley Business School, Dr. B.A. Daniel from Life Trust – India, Coimbatore, and Dr. Rajkumar Rajan from Marine Biology Centre Zoological Survey of India. Many topics were discussed, including Climate impacts on biodiversity, Planetary health, Green economy, Real estate investment and urban population health. These aligned with the conference’s main tracks: Public health, Food Safety and Security, Animal Health, Sustainable Ecosystem and Biodiversity, putting on view that human, animal, and environment are interconnected.
Dr. Connie Cai Ru Gan shares how planetary health matters to public health, “We can’t have healthy people on a sick planet”. This statement was strengthened by Prof. Benden Mackey, who gave insight on how climate change affects food safety and security which directly impacts animal health and public health. Carrying on the discussion, Dr. B.A. Daniel pointed out biodiversity’s role in climate change mitigation and climate change’s influence on economic transformation. Dr. Kathy Pain continued the discussion with the topic of Real estate investment and urban population health, identified that collaboration and trust between local government authorities, local communities and investment entities is required to redevelop urban areas in ways that address community social needs and health inequalities. Dr. Rahmat Yuliawan, explained how climate change sustainability can scale up the green economy. Spotlighting the importance of psychological approach in expanding the green economy. Lastly, Dr. Rajkumar Rajan discussed Climate Change and some Niche Marine Habitats. The symposium ended with a panel discussion.
Through the insights and expertise shared by the distinguished speakers, it is visible how the topics are connected to one another. Emphasized the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environment. The Symposium related thoroughly to SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals).
