WOW January 2021: Online Learning Can Be Fun

WUACD in collaboration with Airlangga Global Engagement and Daffodil International University held the first series of WUACD On webinar (WOW) in 2021 entitled “Conducting Enjoyable Virtual Classes” on January 28, 2021. The outstanding guest speakers are Porf. Syed Mizanur Rahman (Daffodil International University), Dr. Ejaj-Ur-Rahaman (Daffodil International University), and Yuni Sari Amalia, PhD (Universitas Airlangga).

The webinar began with a welcome remark from Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih, Vice Rector of Universitas Airlangga. The first speaker was Yuni Sari Amalia, PhD who provided an explanation on how to retain focus with enjoyable E-Learning. Then, it was followed by Prof Syed Mizanur Rahman who explained the art of living in online learning. The final speaker, Dr. Ejaj-Ur-Rahaman, explained gamification in online teaching and learning.

The question-and-answer session started with the practice of interactive game-based learning platform, Kahoot. The total 229 participants were from various background from Indonesia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Armenia, and China. Several of them are the members of WUACD namely Dr. Elvind Yip (Universiti Kuala Lumpur), Dr. Cordelia Mason (Universiti Kuala Lumpur), and Norhayati Ab Manaf (Universiti Malaysia Terengganu).

The chairperson of WUACD, Dr. Pratiwi Soesilawati, hoped that “WUACD on Webinars become an effective platform to transfer knowledge from scholars to the community in this pandemic era. On today’s episode of webinar, I hope that it would encourage and motivate all educators around the world to incorporate human sense to reach the students so the focus is not only on the PowerPoint presentation. One of the effective methods is the gamification online learning.”
