World Universities Summit: Jindal Global University with The Future Building Institutional Resilience, Social Responsibility & Community Impact in G20 Countries

Jindal Global University invited Universitas Airlangga and several world universities to its event, JGU – G20 World Universities Summit 2023. With the theme “Universities of The Future Building Institutional Resilience, Social Responsibility & Community Impact in G20 Countries,” the summit is held for five days, on 27-31 March 2023, and is being attended by 160 national and international participants from all G20 countries on six continents and will involve 100 world universities. Each summit gathering has been planned with the current environment and the G20 nations’ need for higher education in mind.

There are several special speeches and discussions on significant topics as part of the 30 thematic sessions, one of which is session 14, with the title of “Being Glocal: University as a Site of Local Innovation & Meaningful Community Engagement,” which will be attended by Universitas Airlangga and feature Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih, as a speaker.

In this summit, each university shared the efforts and programs that had been carried out by each university in an effort to improve the welfare of the community. This panel explores ideas about how educational institutions can ensure university governance that inspires broad-based community engagement programs, partnerships, and initiatives with local and regional communities and neighborhoods in ways that impact society and stimulate local innovation. Universitas Airlangga aim to maximizing added value to all stakeholders as well as creating significant impacts at various levels are manifested into Meaningful Research, and Community Services. Several programs to increase the community engagement such as Airlangga Community Development Hub (ACDH), the development of COVID-19 vaccine called Merah-Putih, and the establishment of World University Association for Community Development (WUACD) to increase the global collaboration.
Thus, the result obtained is how the involvement of the university community engagement can be carried out with collaborative efforts from universities and communities as well as between universities around the world.
