Universitas Airlangga and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia have strengthened their collaboration by implementing SDG 17, which focuses on Partnership for the Goals. This partnership has led to the introduction of the Go East Java program, a comprehensive initiative that explicitly supports the implementation of several SDGs, including but not limited to SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). The programs implemented during the Go East Java program are designed to contribute to these SDGs directly. The primary objective of this collaboration is to foster knowledge exchange and cultivate an environment of ongoing cooperation between universities, with active involvement from both students and lecturers.

Running from February 28th to March 3rd, 2024, the Go East Java program saw participation from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, comprising 23 students and two lecturers, alongside 17 students from Universitas Airlangga. These students played a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life of the local communities by making use of the things around them. This number underscores the significant responsibility across various sectors within the program, notably emphasizing the role of college students in environmental initiatives. The program commenced with a welcoming ceremony on February 28th, followed by a 4-day program in the Mendiro district of Jombang, East Java. The program aims to ensure social activities through local people’s needs and environmental activity on protection and preservation. The representatives of Universitas Airlangga by the Student Union convey the Community Development they have started. It resembles the student awareness of developing civil society in a specific location for long-term impact. The program’s focus addressed SDG number 17, Partnership For The Goals between Universitas Airlangga, WUACD, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and people from Mendiro district. The program was started with the opening ceremony that was held on 28 February 2024 in ASEEC Tower Universitas Airlangga to give a warm welcome to the participants of the Go East Java program.
