About

Considering the demands for global academic mobility through a distinctive activity for community rather than research and involving more international partners in the world, there is an urgency to establish an association for community development. Therefore, in 2018, Universitas Airlangga initiated World University Association for Community Development (WUACD) establishment supported by 15 higher educations around the world as founders.

In November 2019, WUACD will hold a summit. It is an annual forum organized by Universitas Airlangga and supported by the founders. This summit acts as a platform enabling each participant and partners to share a valuable information, experience, and activity for local community in form of community engagement. Hopefully, this summit will subsequently contribute to a better life of local community.

Vision, Mission, and Aims of WUACD

As a strategic orientation for the association, WUACD is designed to have a vision: “to be most prominent community development association in the world”.

WUACD also has two missions:

Increasing the number of collaborations in the forms of community service which is in line with academics’ focusing on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s), and
Articulating community services in international programs for both students and staff mobility.

The aims of WUACD are to promote its members to have more international collaboration in the forms of community service and to maximize local development by empowering communities.

Focus of Summit

During the summit, participants have to remember that the activities will be conducted focus on social development including Health, Education, Disaster Mitigation, Behavior for Cross-Cultural Era, Gender, and Economy.
