On 26th August 2023, Universitas Airlangga and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia held an International Community Development. One of the agenda is giving education on public health at Kangkar Pulai. One initiative is the planting Traditional Medicinal Plants (Tumbuhan Obat Keluarga) campaign, where community members come together to cultivate Traditional Medicinal Plants (Tumbuhan Obat Keluarga) as herbal complementary medicine. This not only promotes affordable and accessible healthcare but also reflects SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by encouraging the use of natural remedies and traditional knowledge to improve overall health.

Kangkar Pulai is also tackling SDG 3 by initiating programs for the early detection and prevention of dengue fever by Dr. Sulistawati from the Faculty of Medicine. By providing knowledge about this disease, its symptoms, and preventive measures, the community is contributing to SDG 3’s target of reducing the global burden of diseases. It is also focusing on oral health through an education about dental health medicine program. By collaborating with local dental professionals, the community is educated about proper dental hygiene practices. Individuals with better oral health are more likely to lead productive lives and access proper nutrition.

Furthermore, the community’s commitment to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) is evident in the education about family nutrition initiative. By educating families about balanced diets, essential nutrients, and sustainable meal planning, Kangkar Pulai is not only addressing health concerns but also SDG 12 (Promoting Responsible Consumption and Production ) by utilizing local ingredients and reducing food waste.
In conclusion, Kangkar Pulai’s multifaceted public health education initiatives serve as a testament to the community’s dedication to sustainable development. By addressing various health aspects and aligning them with the SDGs, Kangkar Pulai is not only improving individual well-being but also setting an example for other communities to create lasting positive change.
