University students greatly benefit from academic and knowledge-sharing activities, which bridge the gap between theoretical learning and real-world applications, ultimately fostering practical solutions for local communities. At the recent BBK International event at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), students engaged in a series of knowledge-sharing sessions designed to connect classroom learning with practical experience and empower local communities through valuable insights and skills.

On the event’s first day, participants participated in a session titled “How Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Shape Our Planet.” This discussion aimed to deepen students’ understanding of agricultural processes and promote increased awareness and support for sustainable agriculture. The session underscored the importance of improved policies and practices to advance sustainability in these vital sectors.

Another notable session, “Soundscape of Kenyir,” tackled the complexities of recording fauna sounds in dense forests. Students learned about the challenges posed by overlapping animal noises and explored strategies to enhance data collection and analysis. They discussed collaboration with AI and data science companies to improve the efficiency and accuracy of fauna sound analysis.

Additionally, students attended sessions with the Faculty of Science and Marine Environment (FSSM) and Fakulti Perniagaan, Ekonomi dan Pembangunan Sosial (FPEPS). Their visit to the INOS Gallery provided insights into the National Higher Institution Centre of Excellence (HICoE) in marine science, focusing on marine and oceanographic research. The visit to the Nur Zahirah Library further enriched their experience.

The program also included a meeting with six students from Hulu Terengganu College, where Universitas Airlangga students shared their knowledge about university goals and potential career paths. This interaction aimed to boost confidence and inspire the college students to pursue their aspirations.
