A Transfer of Knowledge and Insightful Discussion with the WUACD International Conference on Community Development 2022

Ensuring the betterment of the environment and the communities consisting of struggling people with all kinds of issues is not an easy task. It requires the assistance and resources that could be provided from meaningful exchange information. WUACD has made it one of its missions to inspire these conversations to happen, one of the efforts being the International Conference 2022 with the theme of “The Enhancement of Global Environmental Health and Sustainable Development”.

On November 10th 2022, the International Conference occurred in the Airlangga Sharia Entrepreneurship and Education Center (ASEEC) Tower in Campus B of Universitas Airlangga. Aside from the delegates of WUACD university members, other participants both local and international were also eager to attend the conference and the activities within it. The first agenda is the Official Session that starts at around 09.00 am, which are the welcoming speeches by the chairperson of the International Conference, Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih. It is followed by presentations by keynote speakers regarding different topics such as health and others. 

The second agenda is the Short-Lecture Session (Parallel). In this activity, the delegates and participants are separated into 6 rooms. Each room will hold a lecture from multiple speakers ranging from various themes which are Green Economy, Blue Economy, Digital Economy, Health and Wellbeing, Tourism and Conservation, and Food Security. Each delegate and participant are able to freely choose which room they want to enter and hear the lectures that are given regarding the issue, and move to other rooms if they please. The themes are current matters that must be addressed in accordance with community development. It is then followed by a forum and a poster presentation. Then, the delegates and participants went for a lunch and prayer break. The third agenda is the Oral Presentation Session (Parallel). In this activity, the delegates and participants are still divided into the six rooms, but now there are presentations of different projects and research from multiple individuals which are then followed by critical and enlightening questions and discussions from the listeners and examiners. The fourth and final agenda after this session is the closing ceremony, where there is an awarding session for the best presenters in the previous agenda of each sub-topic. There are also closing remarks by various participants and delegates as well as farewells. The conference officially ended at around 16.00 pm.

The international conference has been able to not only bring together scholars and professionals as well as intellectual and curious individuals into the same space, but to also converse and have meaningful and important discussions and a transfer of crucial knowledge in order to execute necessary changes to improve the community around them.
