
The development of people in the communities of every region has been an ongoing issue which requires effort and cooperation. It has also become one of the main concerns that the World University Association for Community Development) tackles in hopes to find the solution. WUACD has held an annual summit for the past few years. In 2022, it is decided that the event will be held in-person, the first offline gathering since 2019 before the pandemic occurred. Members of WUACD attended the summit as well as the international conference, which lasted from 8 to 11th November 2022.
On Wednesday, 9th November 2022, the summit commenced in the Rector building of Campus C, Universitas Airlangga in Surabaya. The event started at 13.00 pm and ended at 16.00 pm. The attendees included Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih as the chairperson of WUACD Secretariat, the project coordinators of WUACD which are Dr. Niko Azhari Hidayat, Prof. Shao-Liang Chang, Assoc. Prof. Syed Mizanur Rahman, and Prof. Mansor Abu Thalib. Each universities as WUACD members sent their representatives to attend as well.
The summit began with opening remarks by the president of WUACD and rector of Universitas Airlangga, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih and the signing of the new members of WUACD. It was followed by reports and presentations from the project coordinators and their respective programs and activities. After, the secretariat of WUACD provided recent updates and progress of WUACD activities. It encompasses the plans for the programs WUACD will conduct in 202 which are Airlangga Grant on Community Development programs and the Matching-Fund. The last agenda of the summit is comments, discussions, and recommendations from various members of WUACD regarding the previous reports from the project coordinators and the 2023 programs. The summit was able to inform all of the important programs and activities that WUACD has executed as well as clarify and improve the ongoing and the upcoming programs that will be done in the future. The conversation that occurred have also made the discussion more nuanced and amplified the concerns and issues that deserve attention and ensure further attention as well as the quality of performance and result of WUACD outcomes.
