WUACD in collaboration with the World Association for Sustainable Development (WASD) has organized an international joint conference on “Implementation of Artificial Intelligence in Digital Health to Support Sustainable Development.” This groundbreaking event brings together experts and enthusiasts from all over the world to discuss the vital connection between artificial intelligence and sustainable healthcare. This conference took place in Surabaya, ASEEC Tower, and was conducted hybrid on Monday, October 28th, 2024. This conference was attended by Prof. Allam Ahmed, Chairperson of WASD. Prof. Allam Ahmed gave the international conference a welcoming speech as well as gave a presentation on “Leading Healthcare in a Digital World” as a keynote speaker of this conference.

The conference was divided into two sections, one being the main session, where keynote speakers provide a broad overview of the conference theme, highlighting key trends, challenges, and opportunities in digital healthcare through artificial intelligence. The keynote speaker session includes experts in their field to elaborate more on AI and its significance in the future of many healthcare sectors. One of the sectors being mentioned was veterinary in a presentation by Prof. Young Hee Lee from Seoul National University called “Application of large language models in developing pet-companion friendly veterinary service.” Large Language Models have the potential to revolutionize the veterinary industry, creating a more pet-friendly and efficient experience, thus making emotional support and counseling more achiveable for pet owners. Tech innovators and researchers can explore how they can make a tangible impact and integrate these technologies into their research.

The main session also includes invited speakers who delve deeper into specific topics within the conference theme. Invited speakers elaborate on certain topics in digital health and its AI implementation and have a discussion session with expert researchers such as Prof. Ts. Dr Muhammad Suzuri Hitam from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu speaking about “Innovating Education through AI: Current Status, Challenges, Opportunities, and Future Directions”. This topic connects SDG point 3: good health and well-being and SDG point 4: Quality Education. Through AI, eduaction can be revolutionize the way students learn and teachers teach. University leaders can create new strategies to integrate AI and digital health into their curriculum so students can thrive better in these times of rapid growing technology.

Through these sessions, participants will gain a broad range of insights and perspectives on implementing AI in digital health.
