WUACD Thematic Summer Programs: Discussing the children’s developmental disorders

The webinar entitled “Early Identification, Detection, and Management of Children with Developmental Disorders” marked the second day of Optimizing the Development of Children with Special Needs. Hosted by the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Airlangga, the webinar was held virtually on July, 25th 2021. Approximately 500 participants from different backgrounds attended the webinar. The webinar aimed to address the medical challenges in the development of children with special needs.

Ahmad Suryawan, MD, Ph.D. from Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Airlangga, acted as the first speaker. He shared about the Developmental Assessment tools of High-Risk Infants. Following the explanation, Prof Mijna Hadders-Algra, MD, Ph.D. from University Medical Centre Groningen, The Netherlands, delivered her topic about Challenges in Early Intervention of Children with Developmental Disorders: On the Hurdles Take by Children, Families, and Scientists. After the two speakers delivered the topics, the audience had a questions-and-answers session with the insightful speakers. Most of the questions were about implementing and treating children with special needs in respective countries. Moreover, the webinar series will be continuing to discuss autism in August 2021.
