A delightful workshop had been done conducted by Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. World University Association for Community Development (WUACD) Universitas Airlangga came as a keynote speaker in the workshop. The topic of the workshop was ‘Youth Volunteerism for Transformational change through Non-Formal Education’. The workshop was conducted at R. Pleno, Campus C of Universitas Airlangga, 15 July 2019.

The workshop began with a sharing session between a WUACD representative, AGE representatives, and delegates from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. They mainly discussed about the issue on how volunteerism and non-formal education can build skills, knowledge and positive attitudes to enable them to become “agents for change” for peace and sustainable development in their communities and societies.

Therefore, the forum is expected to make youth more aware to create innovative programs on community services because they carry a responsibility as agents of change. It marks a powerful collaboration between Universitas Airlangga and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia on community development.

“Volunteerism is needed in these times. It is one of the activity to take part in addressing 17 Sustainable Development Goals in which the goals focus on poverty, environment, education, and social issue. Aside the fact that volunteerism gives a good impact to the society, it is also beneficial for volunteers themselves.” Stated by Mega Moeharyono Puteri, drg., Ph.D., Sp.KGA(K) as a representative from WUACD Universitas Airlangga.
